大善 – daizen.io is an escrow-like service that utilizes a traditional Swiss-style guild system for conflict resolution. The name is derived from the Japanese kanji for “big” (dai or ooki) and “zen” like in Zen Buddhism, meaning “big harmony.” Each guild is responsible for resolving disputes within a specific area, such as car or bike sharing, ride sharing or short-term apartment rentals. The service enables secure and peaceful payments between partners by allowing customers to pay a predetermined amount in advance, which is released upon confirmation of the contract’s fulfillment. If the agreement is not fulfilled, the guild, made up of several members, will decide in favor of the customer or the service provider. If the service provider admits to not fulfilling the contract, the locked amount will also be released. The service is versatile and can be extended to include features such as partial payments.
